The finalists for the 2018 Hugo Awards, Award for Best Young Adult Book, and John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer and for the 1943 Retrospective Hugo Awards were announced at simultaneous events held in San Jose, California, at Norwescon 41 in SeaTac, Washington, and at Follycon, the 68th British National Science Fiction Convention (Eastercon).
Finalists for the 2018 Hugo Awards, Award for Best Young Adult Book, and John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer and for the 1943 Retrospective Hugo Awards will be announced at simultaneous events starting at 12 Noon, Pacific Daylight Time on March 31, 2018, followed by an online video announcement on the Worldcon 76 web site and the Worldcon Events YouTube channel.
Live announcements will take place at the following venues:
- 7 Stars Bar & Grill, 398 S. Bascom Ave, San Jose, California, Noon Pacific Daylight Time (This event is open to the public.)
- Follycon, the 69th British National SF Convention (Eastercon), Majestic Hotel in Harrogate, UK, 8 PM British Summer Time
- Norwescon 41, SeaTac, Washington, Noon Pacific Daylight Time
In addition to the live announcement at Eastercon, Follycon has scheduled an “Instant Reaction” panel at 9 PM BST following the announcement.
Approximately one hour following the live announcements, a video presentation of the finalists will be posted on the Worldcon 76 web site and on the Worldcon Events YouTube channel.

Nominations for the 2018 Hugo/Best YA Book/John W. Campbell Award and for the 1943 Retrospective Hugo Awards have closed. The Administrators are tallying the nominations, confirming potential finalists’ eligibility, and contacting potential finalists in accordance with World Science Fiction Society rules. Worldcon 76 currently plans to announce the finalist shortlists on March 31. Details of their plans will be announced soon.
