2019 Hugo Awards to be Live-Streamed

Dublin 2019: An Irish Worldcon, the 77th World Science Fiction Convention, informs us that the 2019 Hugo Awards Ceremony will be live-streamed through Vimeo. The ceremony is scheduled for 20:00 (8 PM) Irish Summer Time on Sunday, August 18, 2019. Live-streaming video coverage of the Hugo Awards Ceremony is provided by the current Worldcon, not the Hugo Awards web site.

As previously announced, the Hugo Awards web site will provide lower-bandwidth text-only coverage of the 2019 Hugo Awards ceremony here on the Hugo Awards web site. We’ll be “on the air” shortly before 20:00 on Sunday night with our live “play-by-play” of the ceremony.

  1. Thank you so much for the live text coverage. I peeked at it every few seconds as our club’s watch party soaked in the Vimeo. Both were darn perfect. Canton, Ohio fans wishing you and Dublin all the very best.

    1. We do not know if or when the video of the ceremony will be posted. Apparently there were copyright issues (as there often are) and Dublin 2019 is working out producing a video that does not run afoul of those issues. The video is produced and distributed by the current Worldcon, not by the Hugo Awards web site. When we know more, we will post about it.

    1. Apparently the video posted by Dublin2019 has too many things to trigger copyright bots. When and if they publish a video that doesn’t get zapped, we’ll post about it.
